Like many rugby-loving nations, it was the English that first infected Argentina with a love of the game back in the 1800s. But since then, Argentina has developed its own strong identity in the sport, and its national team, the Pumas, has competed in every Rugby World Cup since its inception.
Rugby is particularly popular around Buenos Aires and Tucumán Province, where it puts up a solid fight against football in the battle for sporting hearts and minds.
