You will find accurate Formula 1 predictions for this weekend and every weekend after it.

In each of our Formula 1 predictions for this weekend, we will break down all the key details you need to know, such as individual Formula 1 driver odds and performance, right down to track conditions. We will also include accurate Formula 1 predictions for this weekend about who to expect on the podium and which constructors to look out for.

Formula One Grand Prix FAQ

If you’re still not 100% familiar with the workings of F1, here’s a quick FAQ to help get you quickly up to speed (excuse the pun…). If you already know all there is to know about the Formula 1 GP, the feel free to skip ahead.

How does a Formula 1 race work?

The basic workings of a Formula 1 race are quite simple. Drivers will race laps around a course, and the first driver to cross the finishing line after completing a set number of laps wins.

The exact number of laps will usually vary according to where the race is held, as different tracks have varying lap lengths. However, most races usually take around about 90 minutes and cover approximately 305km.

The one other important thing to know about Formula 1 races is the concept of starting order. At the start of a race, drivers will line up along a grid, with drivers at the front (also known as “poll position”) having an advantage. The starting order is determined during qualifying in the day leading up to the race — the driver with the fastest lap time takes poll position.

What makes Formula 1 special?

The main difference between Formula 1 and many other motorsport races is that Formula 1 cars are designed from the ground up to do just one thing — get around a race track as fast as possible.

This contrasts with many other motorsports that use modified “stock” cars. This leaves F1 engineers with much more freedom to play around with things like aerodynamics and weight balance, thus producing the fastest cars to go around a track, bar none.

How many grand prix races are there each year?

While there isn’t a fixed number of F1 races each year, most seasons these days see a total number of races somewhere in the low 20s. More precisely, 2023 will see a total of 23 races, while 2021 and 2022 both saw 22 races.

This reflects a general upward trend in the number of F1 races per season. The first F1 season (1950) saw just 7 races, the mid-teens by the 1970s, and finally towards the low 20s we see today.

Who are the best F1 drivers of all time?

The all-time number one F1 driver is none other than Lewis Hamilton. At the time of writing, he had 103 wins under his belt, beating second-placed Michael Schumacher’s 91 career wins.

After these two greats of the sport, we have Sebastian Vettel on 53 wins and Alain Prost on 51 wins. And finally, rounding out the top five we have today’s rising star, Max Verstappen, on 46 wins.

F1 Betting Tips

With that said, coming up with accurate F1 predictions is easier said than done. While we can model the most probable Formula 1 odds based on everything from historical data and driver performance to track conditions and car performance, there are many unexpected variables that come into play, such as weather.

For that reason, making good Formula 1 bets means making a few educated guesses at times. So to help you with that, we will highlight a few details you can use to improve your own Formula 1 predictions for this weekend.

Calculating F1 Predictions and Odds

Coming up with an accurate Formula 1 prediction is no small challenge. It requires the consideration of countless variables, taking into account everything from driver form to track and weather conditions.

Understanding these is vital for placing odds-beating Formula 1 bets. So here are a few key points that will help improve your F1 betting odds.

Formula 1 Driver Odds — Skill and Experience

The abilities and past performances of each driver play a significant role in their chances of winning. More experienced drivers with a history of success are generally more likely to perform well.

F1 Constructor Predictions — Performance and Resources

Stronger teams with better financial resources, engineers, and strategists typically have much better F1 race odds. This can lead to better car development and race strategy, which directly affects Formula 1 driver odds.

It’s also worth paying attention to car performance and reliability, with factors such as engine power, aerodynamics, fuel efficiency, and tire management all impacting a car’s performance during a race. Reliability is also crucial, as mechanical failures can lead to retirements or poor race results.

Formula 1 Predictions and Odds — Circuit Characteristics

Each circuit has unique features that can drastically alter driver odds and constructor predictions. For example, some tracks are more dependent on engine power, while others require better aerodynamics or tire management. Understanding these nuances can help improve Formula 1 predictions about which drivers and constructors will perform well.

Weather conditions can also have a significant impact on Formula 1 race predictions. Rain, for example, can lead to unpredictable results, especially on tight circuits with heavy cornering, which may improve F1 driver odds for those with exceptional wet-weather driving skills.

F1 Winner Odds — Grid Position

Starting position on the grid can influence Formula 1 winner odds in a big way. Drivers who qualify towards the front have a better chance of avoiding accidents and controlling the race pace, which ultimately improves the odds of a win.

F1 Standings Predictions — Driver Form

A driver’s recent form and confidence can play a role in F1 predictions. Drivers on a hot streak or with a strong history at a particular circuit may be more likely to perform well.

F1 Drivers Championship Odds — Top 10

#1 — Max Verstappen Odds (Red Bull)

The son of former Formula One driver Jos Verstappen, Dutch racer Max Verstappen was the 2021 and 2022 Formula One World Champion. He is now shaping up as the clear favorite in the 2023 Drivers Championship odds. He’s also our #1 pick for the 2023 Drivers championship and is the favorite in many of our F1 2023 race predictions.

He is contracted until at least 2028 with Red Bull Racing, who’s also leading the way in the F1 Constructors Championship odds for 2023. After joining Red Bull Racing in 2016, he won the Spanish Grand Prix, becoming the youngest and first Dutch driver to win a Formula One race.

By 2023, he had 37 victories, 22 pole positions, and scored his first hat trick in 2021 at the French F1 Grand Prix.

#2 — Sergio Pérez Odds (Red Bull)

Sergio “Checo” Pérez has been racing with Red Bull Racing since 2020 and is currently one of the top-3 in the 2023 Drivers Championship odds. He has previously driven for Sauber, McLaren, Force India, and Racing Point.

Pérez won his first Grand Prix at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix and earned his first pole position at the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Pérez debuted in Formula One with Sauber in 2011 and later joined McLaren in 2013. After a disappointing season, he signed with Force India in 2014 and stayed with the team when it became Racing Point in 2019.

#3 — Fernando Alonso Odds (Aston Martin)

Spaniard Fernando Alonso is currently driving for Aston Martin and sits comfortably in the top three for the 2023 F1 Drivers Championship odds. He has previously driven for Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, and Minardi since he debuted in Formula One with Minardi in 2001.

Alonso has won 32 Grands Prix, and 22 pole positions, and is the only Spanish Formula One driver to have won the World Championship. He made his debut for Aston Martin at the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix.

#4 — Lewis Hamilton Odds (Mercedes)

A household name and one of only a handful of Formula 1 drivers to be knighted, British driver “Sir” Lewis Hamilton needs no introduction. He is currently driving for Mercedes and is among our top five in the 2023 Drivers Championship odds.

He has won a joint-record seven Drivers Championship titles and holds records for the most wins, pole positions, and podium finishes. He raced with McLaren from 2007 to 2012 and made his debut appearance at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix. He signed with Mercedes in 2013.

#5 — Charles Leclerc Odds (Ferrari)

Monégasque racing driver Charles Leclerc is currently competing in the 2023 Formula One for Ferrari and rounds out our top-5 for the Formula 1 2023 Drivers Championship odds.

Leclerc debuted in Formula One with Sauber in 2018 and then joined Ferrari in 2019, with which he had a stellar year, taking 10 podiums at races such as the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix and the Italian F1 Grand Prix.

As of the 2023 Australian Grand Prix, Leclerc has 5 race wins and 18 pole positions and is contracted with Ferrari until at least the end of the 2024 season.

#6 — George Russell Odds (Mercedes)

Narrowly missing out on the top-5 for the 2023 Formula 1 Drivers Championship odds is George Russell, a British racer currently driving for Mercedes.

He achieved his first Formula 1 victory at the 2022 São Paulo Grand Prix. As of the 2023 Australian F1 Grand Prix, Russell has one victory, one pole position, five fastest laps, and nine podium finishes.

While he’s seen as an outside chance, he does get the odd mention as an outside chance for a podium in our F1 race predictions, like at the Hungary F1 Grand Prix, where he beat the odds to take pole position in 2022 and held on for third.

#7 — Carlos Sainz Odds (Ferrari)

Spanish Carlos Sainz currently drives for Ferrari, and, while an outside shot in the Formula 1 2023 Drivers Championship odds, you can’t rule him out entirely as he often crops up as an outside chance in our F1 race predictions.

He is the son of double World Rally Champion, Carlos Sainz Sr., and joined the Formula 1 with Toro Rosso before moving to McLaren in 2019. In 2020, he moved to Ferrari and took his first Formula One pole position and career win at the 2022 British Grand Prix.

#8 — Lance Stroll Odds (Aston Martin)

Lance Stroll is a Canadian-Belgian racing driver competing with Aston Martin since 2021. He previously drove for Williams and Racing Point. He’s a massive outside shot in the 2023 F1 Drivers Championship odds. The odds are also stacked against him in any given race — he hasn’t stood on a podium since 2020, where he managed a third place in both the Italian F1 Grand Prix and the F1 Sakhir Grand Prix.

#9 — Esteban Ocon Odds (Alpine)

Another massive outsider in the 2023 Formula 1 Drivers Championship odds, Frenchman Esteban Ocon, is currently competing for the BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team. Last year, he finished eighth in the Formula 1 Drivers Championship, helping Alpine secure fourth place in the Constructors Championship.

He last stood on a podium in 2021 after beating the odds to take first at the F1 Hungary Grand Prix. Despite this, don’t expect to see his name in our F1 race predictions for Hungary, where George Russell is the driver with the lowest odds that we give a chance.

#10 — Oscar Piastri (McLaren)

The last in our top-10 for the 2023 F1 Drivers Championship odds is Aussie boy Oscar Piastri. This is his first season racing for McLaren after making his Formula 1 debut in 2022 as a reserve for Alpine, who released him following the 2022 F1 Bahrain Grand Prix.

Formula 1 Drivers Championship Odds — The Long Shots

F1 Standings Predictions

The following drivers round out the F1 standings odds. However, the Drivers Championship odds are stacked so far against them that you really shouldn’t hold your breath.

With that said, if you fancy your chances of becoming an overnight millionaire, throwing a couple of hundred on a Logan Sargeant bet would do it comfortably if he somehow defied his odds and pulled a Drivers Championship out of nowhere.

  • Pierre Gasly – Alpine
  • Guanyu Zhou – Alfa Romeo
  • Yuki Tsunoda – AlphaTauri
  • Kevin Magnussen – Haas F1 Team
  • Alexander Albon – Williams
  • Logan Sargeant – Williams
  • Nyck de Vries – AlphaTauri

Of course, as we said, none of these drivers feature anywhere in our F1 Grand Prix predictions. But still, if you feel like placing a bet just for fun, you never know what will happen.

How to Bet on F1 Predictions for This Weekend

When it comes to betting on Formula 1 using our F1 predictions, there is a range of bet types you can place. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, and some are better suited to some races and predictions than others.

Here’s a brief overview covering Formula 1 bets you can place and a few F1 betting tips to help you make the most of our Formula 1 predictions for this weekend.

F1 Race Winner Bets

Race winner bets are the most straightforward way to bet using our F1 predictions for this weekend. It simply entails predicting the driver who will cross the finish line first. Then, if your chosen driver crosses the line first, you win.

However, while the simplicity of a race winner bet makes it a popular choice, it’s not always optimal. For starters, compared to some other bet types, it is a little ‘all or nothing,’ as the only way to win is for your driver to finish first. Even if your chosen driver manages to grab a podium finish, if that finish isn’t first, then it’s all for nothing.

Another downside is that making Formula 1 predictions is notoriously difficult, which is why we usually discuss a few favorites in all of our F1 predictions for this weekend. Quite simply, there are too many unpredictable variables, such as weather and mechanical problems, to perfectly make Formula 1 predictions for this weekend.

Another complication with F1 race winner bets is that making a profit can be tough if it means betting on the favorite. The real secret to successful Formula 1 betting lies in uncovering value. Usually, the big favorites in our F1 predictions for this weekend often come with low odds, reducing the payout for a winning bet.

F1 Matchup Bets

Matchup bets are an interesting betting type that sees the best online sportsbooks decide the field into pools of drivers (usually into groups of up to 6 drivers). You can then bet on who will finish highest from that pool. The best part about F1 matchup bets is that you don’t necessarily have to pick the winner. So long as your chosen driver finishes highest among their pool, then your bet wins.

Compared to F1 race winner bets, Formula 1 matchup bets can be a more strategic way to use our F1 predictions for this weekend. For example, if our prediction gives good F1 race odds to multiple drivers, finding a pool with only one of these favorites in it can be a good way to maximize your betting odds.

F1 Top 3 Bets

Like Formula 1 race winner bets, F1 top-3 bets (also known as podium bets) are all about picking a favorite, and seeing them finish well. The only difference is that, instead of having to make an accurate F1 prediction for the race winner, you only need the driver to finish on the podium in order to see your bet win.

The big advantage with F1 podium bets is that it neutralizes some of the unpredictable variables that our Formula 1 predictions for this weekend can’t account for. For example, if the race favorite suffers from a slow pit stop that costs them the win, they could still end up on the podium, meaning your bet would still win.

The downside, of course, is that the odds offered by the best online sportsbooks will generally be lower than for an equivalent race winner bet. This can make it especially tough to develop a winning race strategy if our F1 predictions for this weekend also line up with the bookmakers odds-on favorite.

F1 Top 6 Bets

Another popular way to use our Formula 1 predictions for this weekend is to place a top-6 bet. This is identical to the top-3 bet above, with the only difference being that your chosen driver only needs to finish in the top 6 for your bet to win.

The downside here is that the odds offered by sportsbooks will be less favorable than for top-3 and race winner bets. However, top-6 bets do provide a nice cushion against the unexpected, meaning that with good money management, the edge you gain with our F1 predictions should be enough to help you develop a winning Formula 1 betting strategy.

F1 Winning Margin Bets

F1 winning margin bets are a little like over/under predictions for soccer. The difference is that instead of betting on how many goals a team will win by, you predict how many seconds a driver will win by. However, to make things simple, online sportsbooks generally provide a set winning margin (7 seconds, for example), and you simply bet on whether the winning margin will be over or under this time.

These can be a fun bet type to use when you want to shake things up a little. However, they’re not the most suitable for use with our Formula 1 predictions for this weekend, as we don’t usually predict winning margins.

F1 Futures Bets

Unlike the other F1 betting types we’ve covered above, futures bets aren’t about betting on our Formula 1 predictions for this weekend. Basically, instead of betting on individual race winners, Formula 1 futures bets are about picking the F1 drivers championship or Formula 1 constructor championship winner.

Of course, F1 futures bets can be hard to predict given how many things can upset the season for even the clearest of favorites. However, both the Formula 1 drivers championship odds and the F1 constructor championship odds can be exceptionally profitable if you win. They also offer a fun way to get a little “skin in the game” for the entire season.

F1 Prop Bets

F1 prop bets are all about betting on different events that might happen during a race. For example, you might place a bet on who will be leading the race after a given number of laps, or how many cars will retire.

Of course, most of our F1 predictions for this weekend focus heavily on picking a winner rather than predicting every little detail of the race. However, there are sometimes some hints that might suggest a solid prop bet is available. For example, if we note that a driver is likely to qualify fastest and get pole position, a great bet would be to bet on that driver leading the race after one lap.
