This event has taken place 18 times in total and has seen Lewis Hamilton pick up the most wins for drivers with 5, and Ferrari pick up the most wins for Constructors, with 7.
Last year’s winner, Charles LeClerc, will be looking to repeat history. However, Verstappen and Hamilton will undoubtedly have something to say about that.
Here’s a look at what we can expect from the F1 Bahrain 2023 Grand Prix.
Bahrain F1 Grand Prix 2023 Predictions, Course Details, and Drivers
About the Bahrain Grand Prix course
The F1 Bahrain Grand Prix takes place on March 5 at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Held in Sakhir at the Bahrain International Circuit, this event made history back in 2004 when it became the first F1 Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East. It consists of 57 laps, stretching for 308.288 km (191.530 miles) in total. Each circuit is 5.412 km.
While we can’t predict the future, going from experience and Bahrain’s climate in general, it’s pretty safe to bet on dry conditions, warm sunshine, and moderate northerly winds. As far as potential hazards go, strong winds always threaten to whip up some sand, which can make conditions testing out on the track. On the other hand, there will be an incredibly low risk of rain.
Temperatures at this time of year range from 17C – 27C on average. We’d expect temps of 23C – 24C, though we’ll really only find out on the day.
Lewis Hamilton will undoubtedly be amongst the favorites to win the event next year and claim his sixth win here, though LeClerc of Ferrari will be looking to defend his title.
Last year was a good year for Ferrari, as the Constructor saw its two drivers claim 1st and 2nd place, with Carlos Sainz Jnr finishing 2nd behind his Ferrari teammate.
Who to Watch at the Bahrain GP
Lewis Hamilton
You simply cannot talk about F1 and not discuss Lewis Hamilton. Sure, 2022 saw him drop points. But considering he’s chasing his 8th title and a place in the history books, he’ll be looking to make a real statement for himself and Mercedes.
Realistically, you’d have Hamilton 1st or 2nd, though don’t count out LeClerc and Verstappen.
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen proved that his win in 2021, controversial though it was, was not a one-off or some fluke when he dominated the 2022 season, clinching the title while there was nearly two months left to go.
At the moment, Max Verstappen of Red Bull is the hottest young prospect in F1. And he will undoubtedly be looking to add a 3rd Championship to his resume. So a nice early-season win in F1 Bahrain will go down well for him and Red Bull.
Charles LeClerc
Charles LeClerc, last year’s winner in Bahrain, is another young driver turning heads.
Last year, his win in Bahrain marked the first win since 2019 for both him and Ferrari.
Recently, after taking pole position at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2022, he looks to have found his form. Now, he will be looking to carry that momentum into the 2023 season, using it to grab an early win at the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix in 2023.
