F1 Hungary Grand Prix Odds and Prediction 2024
While every Formula One racing fan has their personal preference in terms of which is their favorite Grand Prix, the F1 Hungary Grand Prix most certainly has to be considered a fan favorite.
Held annually in the village of Mogyorod, since 1986, the F1 Hungary Grand Prix has been a round of the FIA F1 World Championship. Taking place on the prestigious Hungaroring racetrack on the weekend of 19-21 July, the event has taken place 39 times in history, with the very first one being held all the way back in 1936.
Consisting of 70 laps, the race is 190.531 miles long (306.630 km) with a circuit length of 2.722 miles (4.381 km).
Lewis Hamilton is the driver who has enjoyed the most success here, with a whopping 8 wins. As far as constructors go, McLaren has the most wins at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with 11 victories. Who will come out on top at the 2024 F1 Hungary Grand Prix? Let’s find out.
F1 Hungary GP Information, Analysis
F1 Hungary Grand Prix Prediction Course Details — Hungaroring
The 2024 F1 Hungary Grand Prix will be held at the purpose-built Hungaroring track, just outside the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
As we’ve already seen, the race will unroll overthe course of 70 laps of the 2.722 mile (4.381 km) circuit. And despite the high-speed nature of F1, don’t expect those laps to fly by. Hungaroring is a notoriously slow and tight track that requires the use of high levels of down force.
Being tight, the track also has limited overtaking opportunities, meaning the only real strategy to winning the race is to qualify for pole position. There have, of course, been some exceptions to this rule. But, as a general rule, it’s been the strategy that has delivered the most wins here.
As for the weather element, you should never underestimate it when it comes to Grand Prix events, as it can make or break the races and add an element of excitement and danger to them.
The weather in Hungary can be unpredictable, so what can we expect in 2024? While the event is a while away, the summer in Hungary can be warm and humid. Expect temperatures of around 22c – 26c on average, with high levels of humidity, sunny spells, and many clouds.
There will also be a risk of heavy downpours and thunderstorms at this time of year, though obviously, we won’t know until closer to the race. It should, however, be warm and dry, though humidity could be a factor.
F1 Hungary GP Odds to Win — Who to Watch
Max Verstappen picked up the win at the F1 Hungary Grand Prix back in 2022, and again in 2023 but will he be able to make it a hattrick in 2024? Here are some drivers worth keeping an eye on in Hungary.
Lewis Hamilton Odds
Lewis Hamilton loves the F1 Hungary Grand Prix track, and his record here speaks volumes of this.
In 2022 Hamilton had the fastest lap at the F1 Hungary Grand Prix and took 2nd place, narrowly missing out to Max Verstappen. He then came dangerously close to another podium finish in 2024, narrowly missing out when he came in fourth barely a second behind Perez.
The Mercedes legend will not only be looking to get back on course here, but he will also be desperate to show he’s still got what it takes to compete with the best. Not only that, but with his Mercedes teammate George Russell currently leading him on the driver’s championship standings, Lewis will also be looking to prove to Mercedes that he still belongs as their number one driver.
George Russell Prediction
Speaking of George Russell, he has come on leaps and bounds, and many are predicting big things for Mercedes’ current number two driver.
In 2022 at the F1 Hungary Grand Prix, Russell took pole position with a time of 1.17.377 and took 3rd place overall. Unfortunately, he only followed that up with a 6th in 2023.
He knows the course and will be high on confidence and fan support, so expect a good performance from George in Hungary.
Max Verstappen Odds
With the way he has been performing lately, Max Verstappen is always worth watching and has looked unstoppable recently. The Red Bull picked up the victory in 2022 and 2023, and as he chases his 4th World Championship, he’ll be looking to secure as many wins as possible.
Charles Leclerc Prediction
Charles has been performing exceptionally well this season, even if he’s destined to finish up well behind Verstappen. In fact, if you tally up all his races this season, he’s been on the podium more times than he hasn’t, tipping the odds heavily in favor of him finishing on the podium again.
Sergio Perez Odds
Sergio has been down on his luck lately after slipping dramatically in the driver’s championship after multiple DNFs. At this stage, we don’t expect this to become a pattern he’ll follow for the rest of the season, so he’s still figuring heavily in our list of favorites to make the podium.
F1 Schedule – Next Race
