For loyal Formula One fans, the F1 British Grand Prix 2024 at Silverstone is a race you won’t want to miss.
The oldest race in the Formula One racing calendar, the race held at Silverstone in 1950 was round 1 in the first championship season in 1950. Today, the F1 British Grand Prix held at Silverstone is one of the most eagerly anticipated races in the F1 calendar.
This year, the F1 British Grand Prix 2024 takes place over the weekend of July 5 – 7, with the race itself taking place Sunday, July 7th.
Lewis Hamilton is the driver who has had the most success at this event, clocking up an impressive 8 wins, far out in front of the competition. In fact, in terms of the current crop of drivers, his nearest and only rival on the repeat winners leaderboard is Fernando Alonso with 2 wins. After that, the list is made up entirely of retired drivers.
As for constructors, Ferrari takes the gold here, with a staggering 18 wins. Following Ferrari, we have McLaren with 14 wins, and Williams on 10. And as for today’s leader of the pack, Red Bull has just four, only one of which was thanks to current favorite, Max Verstappen.
Of course, the past is the past. So let’s take a look at what we can expect this year at the 2024 British GP.
F1 British GP Information, Analysis
F1 British Grand Prix Prediction, Silverstone Course Details
Held at the prestigious and iconic Silverstone Circuit located in the village of Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England, the British GP circuit is a firm favorite amongst keen racing fans from all over the globe.
Consisting of 52 laps, with a race length of 190.263 miles (306.198 km) and a circuit length of 3.66 miles (5.891 km), the F1 British Grand Prix is not as long as some of the other races in the F1 calendar, but don’t let that fool you, it’s every bit as grueling.
At any F1 British Grand Prix event, regardless of the time of year, the weather will always be a factor and a worry. And, if there’s one thing the Brits love to talk about, it’s the weather, and for any F1 Grand Prix event, the weather will always be a focal point.
As the race takes place in the summer, you would expect warm and sunny weather. The problem is that the UK’s weather is very changeable.
As far as the weather itself goes, providing there are no freak heatwaves like the UK saw in 2022, you can expect warm sunny spells and decent cloud coverage. Of course, there is always the risk of showers or more persistent rain, though that is less likely.
On average, temperatures should sit between 19c and 24c.
F1 British GP Odds to Win — Who to Watch
The Brits will, of course, be ones to watch at the F1 British Grand Prix 2024 as they’ll be out to impress their home crowds.
Lewis Hamilton Odds
2022 saw Lewis post his worst season for years and his worst for Mercedes, but he made amends in 2023 with a 3rd overall in the Driver’s Championship. Of course, 2024 is looking like a repeat of 2022, but he is still a very capable driver. though he will be looking to finish better than he did when he placed 3rd in both the 2022 and 2023 F1 British Grand Prix.
His past track record (pardon the pun) at this event also suggests he’ll always be one to watch, so long as he’s racing. The only question is, will his car be up to the task?
Lando Norris Prediction
Lando Norris has been impressive in 2024, picking up multiple podiums, including a career-first 1st place finish at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. Now add the home crowd advantage into the mix, and Norris could be on fire come race day for the 2024 F1 British GP.
George Russell Odds
Another Mercedes driver who is worth keeping an eye on at the 2024 British GP is George Russell.
At just 25 years of age, many believe he is yet to peak, and he’ll certainly be looking for a podium finish. Russell is also a fan favorite and will have the home advantage, so he’ll have momentum on his side.
Carlos Sainz Jr. Prediction
Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jnr of Ferrari is another driver we’ll be keeping a close on at Silverstone, and for a good reason.
Carlos had an impressive season in 2022 and 2023. And will be looking to improve upon this in 2024. Add to that, the fact that he won the F1 British Grand Prix in 2022, and you, of course, can’t count him out.
Carlos may be overshadowed by his Ferrari teammate Charles LeClerc, but you should never count out the young Spaniard.
Charles LeClerc Odds
In 2024, Leclerc has certainly shown he’s got what it takes to duke it out with the best in F1. He’s also managed to land on the podium at this even before, nabbing second place in 2021.
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez Prediction
Of course, no who-to-watch list would be complete without the Red Bull duo of Verstappen and Perez. Both are leading the pack this year, and there’s a very good chance they’ll be doing so at the 2024 F1 British Grand Prix. Naturally, expect to see Verstappen ahead of Perez.
F1 Schedule – Next Race
Once this race is over, there is nothing left to do but prepare for the next one. And what a race it is!
Right after the British GP, comes the F1 Hungary Grand Prix, a circuit that always offers a good show. Set to go down of July 21, be sure to keep an eye out, be sure to check out our prediction for this race and more with our F1 Drivers Championship Odds for more chances to win.
Prediction for F1 British Grand Prix in 2024
Of course, Max Verstappen will be a favorite in 2024, as he looked so impressive in 2022, but even so, you may be surprised to learn that we don’t have him in our top 3.
- 1st place: For first place, the obvious pick is Max Verstappen. And there’s nothing wrong with obvious if it means winning bets. That’s why we’re picking him.
- 2nd place: In second, we’re picking Sergio Perez. There’s always a chance he’ll be outdone by other close rivals, but with the form he’s showing in 2024, they’ll have a tough time outshining Perez.
- 3rd place: For third place, we’re going with Lando Norris. Racing at home, he’ll be out to impress. And with 2024 results that show he’s got what it takes, we count him as a serious podium contender.
As for Constructors at the F1 British Grand Prix, we’re clearly going with Red Bull for the win, though it will certainly be a battle with Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren all in with a shot at getting in the mix.
