The Saints’ record slipped below 0.500 and currently sits at an underwhelming 4-9.

This is no thanks to their terrible turnover ratio, the blame for which can be equally spread between defense and offense. However, the impact this has had on the team’s ability to get up the pitch has been clear in most games this season, and will need to start looking better soon if the team is to have any meaningful impact next year.

Especially disappointing was the Saints’ loss to the Bucs, where it looked like their defense had finally got their game together, only to collapse again in the final quarter to have victory snatched from their hands.

The postseason is out of reach at this point, and the main focus will be on preparing for next season and working out what’s gone well in 2022 and mainly what’s gone wrong.

Browns

The Browns could still be pushing for a positive overall record here, although fans won’t be happy with the 5-8 score that the team has limped to so far.

They will be happy with the team’s rushing game over the last few months, though, which is up there with the best in the league. That attack still has the glaring inconsistency that was always likely with the return of Deshaun Watson, though. The QB has effectively been out of the game for almost two years, and he’s starting from scratch as everyone else is in full swing.

Luckily, the defense knows how to hold its own, so Watson has some time to find his stride again, but Cleveland will expect him to get back up to speed quickly so they can start to see the team’s full potential.

Since the team is unlikely to make the post-season, the QB problem at least gives Cleveland something to focus on developing before the season’s end.
