Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23 Prediction and Odds
This New Year’s Day Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23 game sees Cleveland hope to edge closer to a positive record this season whilst the Commanders hold on for dear life to stay above 0.500 at the FedEx Field.
Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23 Preview Games and History
This clash goes all the way back to the 1950s when the Browns beat the Commanders 20-14 to start a run of 9 games on the trot of results going that way. This included a couple of thrashings, most memorably the 45-0 win in 1951 and the 62-3 win in 1953.
Amazingly, this isn’t even the longest win streak that Cleveland has ever had in the series. Starting in 1963, they went on a 12-game winning streak that left Washington fans in despair.
It’s no surprise then that the Browns lead the series 34-12-1, a record that would be even more lopsided had the Commanders not started taking home more victories than losses over the last several matchups.
Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23 Odds and Statistics
These teams have never met in the postseason. In fact, despite playing each other annually for decades in the 1950s and 1960s, they’ve only played each other 10 times since 1971. Washington has won 3 of the last 4 but Cleveland got the upper hand last time out in a 34-20 victory in 2020.
Still, Washington will have hope they can continue on the long road to parity in the series with a victory during the Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23 fixture.
Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23 NFL Betting Tips: The Season So Far
The Browns’ season has been mostly underwhelming, their 6-8 record representing that despite flashes of talent, fans go home disappointed more often than not.
One clear shining light throughout the year has been Donovan Peoples-Jones at wide receiver, who was initially a 6th-round pick but now ranks among the Browns’ most consistent performers week in and week out. His emergence has been especially useful, considering it was a position that had many fans worried at the beginning of the season. Turning the weak point of a team into its strength is no hard feat, although the more pessimistic among us may argue it’s merely the result of many other parts of the team looking like a weakness.
Deshaun Watson still plays with a faint question mark over his head. His absence of more than 2 years was always going to mean there’d be an adjustment period, and he doesn’t look like he’s completely out of his depth now, but he’s hardly returned in full swing. The return is made even tougher by the fact that most others on the pitch have the full momentum of a dozen or so game weeks of football behind them. There does seem to be progress, though and if he can keep picking up minutes, then he could be back to his best in time for next season.
There’s more good news for the Browns in that their defense seems to be improving with each passing week too. The big question is whether all these cogs started gathering speed soon enough to keep the postseason within reach. That currently looks unlikely.
There’s been a lot to be positive about this season for Washington. The return of Darrick Forrest after the pain of an injury-disrupted debut season in 2021 is good news, and he now looks like a nailed-on starter.
The worse news for him is that he’s made his way into a team that now looks unlikely to reach the playoffs, although if they win out from here it wouldn’t be their presence would be well-earned.

Prediction Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23
This one will be close but we reckon Washington will be energized by the officiating controversies of recent weeks to ensure there’s no room for debate on who wins the Browns vs. Commanders 01/01/23 fixture. This is likely where Cleveland’s post-season dreams reach the finish line.
