Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23 Prediction and Odds
In the upcoming Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23, the high-flying Eagles will be looking to continue their borderline-perfect season on New Year’s Day as New Orleans hope to weather the storm at Lincoln Financial Field.
Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23 Preview Games and History
One of the league’s older fixtures, Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23, is a game that goes back to 1967 when New Orleans earned an entertaining 31-24 victory.
The teams have played 24 times in total, and things have remained relatively even, with the overall record currently standing at 19-15 in the Eagles’ favor. Things looked to be running away from the Saints when the Eagles went on a 5-game winning streak starting in 1977. But things have mostly evened out since then.
The Eagles are comfortably ahead on the total points scored in the series, though, with 804 points to the Saints’ 726.
Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23 Odds and Statistics
A fair portion of this series’ games has come in the postseason, with the Saints and Eagles having 4 big playoff matches that helped to fuel tension between the teams.
The first was in 1992 when Philadelphia won the 1992 NFC Wild Card Game 36-20.
More recently, they juked it out in a 2019 NFC Division Playoff Game, with New Orleans this time taking home victory after a tight 20-14 game was played out.
New Orleans will be lucky to get such a result from the Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23 fixture, though, as they find themselves coming up against a Philadelphia team in absolute top form.
Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23 NFL Betting Tips: The Season So Far
No part of this Saints team has impressed in 2022. Fans had almost come to take their elite defense for granted but even that has fallen off this year as opponents now line up knowing they can rack up a good number of points if they approach things correctly.
That isn’t to say the defense is awful, but more that they’re not at the great heights of previous years. Instead, it’s the offense that has looked particularly woeful over the past dozen weeks and will end up taking most of the blame for the Saints’ now-confirmed losing season, which will be their first in 6 years.
Questions have started to pervade whether the broader structure of the club was ever correct to maintain the success New Orleans achieved from 2016 until this season. Dennis Allen’s first year as head coach has been a disappointment, even allowing for a transition phase. The drop-off in some areas of the team has unquestionably been greater than many fans hoped for.
A strong finish to the season may at least be enough to increase optimism in time for the 2023 season, but the 5-9 record at the moment is hard enough for many fans to stomach already.
There are no two ways about it. The Eagles are the best side in football. Jalen Hurts is absolutely thriving as QB for a massively versatile forward line, and the defense looks like a brick wall to even the most talented of opposition.
The only slight gripe could be with the special team, but that’s been more an issue of inconsistency rather than a lack of quality.
There’s elite quality wherever you look on the pitch, and arguably, the only reason that Hurts isn’t already being considered a shoo-in for MVP is that he has to share the limelight with so many other in-form stars.

Prediction Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23
Pray for New Orleans. They’re not usually a bad side but most sides look mediocre at best when they’re forced to play Philadelphia. The Saints vs. Eagles 01/01/23 fixture looks more like a question of how much Philadelphia will win by, rather than whether they will or not.
