F1 Mexico Grand Prix Prediction and Odds 2024

The 2024 F1 Mexico Grand Prix could mark one of the last editions we’ll see of this race, with the contract set to expire in 2025. But then again, given the races on-again, off-again history, 2024 could just be another race in a long history of F1 GP racing in Mexico City.

In either case, one thing we do know is that we’re in for another exciting round of racing when the F1 Grand Prix takes to the skies at the high-altitude, high-speed Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit.

No doubt, Max Verstappen will be more than likely to walk away as the race winner when all is said and done. But as for who’s tipped to come in behind him (or first should a stroke of bad luck hit Verstappen), that’s maybe not so clear cut.

So let’s take a closer look at what we can expect in this 2024 F1 Mexico Grand Prix prediction to see which drivers and constructors will do well.

2024 F1 Mexico GP Information and Analysis

F1 Mexico Grand Prix Prediction Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez Course Details

The 2024 F1 Mexico Grand Prix is set to be held at its historic home, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit, where it was first held in 1962.

What really sets this course apart from others on the F1 predictions calendar is, of course, it’s high altitude. With an elevation of 2,238 m (7,342 ft), the thin air not only affects drivers physically, but also has a major impact on air resistance and downforce, dramatically altering car dynamics.

Of course, for all the reductions in downforce, we also see big reductions in drag, making this a course where top speeds in the range of 370km/h have been seen previously. With that said, the current generation of cars does come up a little short here — 2022’s top speed, set by Michael Schumacher down the 1.2km front straight, was “just” 352km/h.

Besides thin air and high speeds, the other major strategic factor at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is without a doubt the infamous Peraltada corner which tragically took the life of Ricardo Rodriguez.

The Peraltada corner, roughly parabolic in shape, is especially important owing to its slightly banked design. This can see drivers taking it at utterly ridiculous speeds given its radius, creating a high-stakes scenario that usually plays a major role in setting up overtaking maneuvers.

2024 F1 Mexico Grand Prix Odds to Win — Who to Watch

Current favorite, Max Verstappen, also happens to hold the record at the F1 Mexico GP, with 5 wins to his name (2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023).

Lewis Hamilton Odds

Hamilton has followed up his 2019 win with three second-placed podiums in 2021, 2022, and 2023. With that sort of consistency, there’s no reason not to expect a repeat in 2024.

Sergio Perez Betting Tips

Sergio has been having a mixed bag of a season, starting off strongly, only for things to turn a little more unpredictable after a series of two back-to-back DNFs which saw his season turn sour. Funnily enough, Perez also DNF’d at Mexico last year. With that said, he’s a strong driver and has also finished the two prior editions of the F1 Mexico City GP on the podium, nabbing third place in both 2021 and 2022.

Carlos Sainz Prediction

Carlos has performed well at Mexico City in the past. In 2019, he scraped in mid-pack. In 2021, he finished 6th. In 2022 he finished 5th. And, in 2023, he finished 4th. 6th, 5th, 4th… if you can count backward, then you should be able to figure out the trajectory he’s on.

Prediction for F1 Mexico Grand Prix 2024

The prediction for the F1 Mexico Grand Prix 2024 is as follows:

  • 1st Place — Max Verstappen: We know you’ll be expecting Max to win the 2024 Mexico GP. We will be, too.

  • 2nd Place — Lewis Hamilton: The old dog’s still got it in him. And with the sort of consistency he’s been having here (2nd place three years straight), why expect an old dog to perform new tricks?

  • 3rd Place — Lando Norris: Lando Norris has been a solid performer in 2024. So much so, it’s easily the best season of his career. And with a trajectory like that, how could you not at least give him a very good chance of making the podium?
