Steelers vs. Ravens 01/01/23 Prediction and Odds
The New Year’s Day Steelers vs. Ravens 01/01/23 game will be a cracker as Pittsburgh takes on Baltimore in game week 17 at the M&T Bank Stadium.
Steelers vs. Ravens 01/01/23 Preview Games and History
Get ready for one of football’s hottest rivalries, as these sides have built up plenty of tension since they first clashed heads in 1996. Their regular meetings in the AFC North have usually been deciding matches in the battle for supremacy in the divisions. While neither side lacks technical ability, this fixture’s physicality always keeps fans on the edge of their seat.
As the only two sides in the AFC North to have won the Super Bowl, both sets of fans can claim to be at the top of the football pyramid, with that division consistently being one of America’s toughest.
Currently, the Steelers have more to brag about overall, leading the series 32-25, a gap which has been extended by the fact that Pittsburgh has won 4 of the last 5 games in the series. They’ve always had the lead, helped by the fact that they won 6 of the first 7 games in the series, making them unassailable on the overall scoreboard, at least for a while yet.
The overall points scored are very close, though, and could be flipped around in just a couple of fixtures. The Steelers have scored 1159 to the Ravens’ 1121.
Steelers vs. Ravens Odds and Statistics
The teams have met in the postseason 4 times, with the Steelers winning 3 of those matchups. This began with a Divisional Playoff game in 2002 that the Steelers won 27-10 and most recently occurred in 2015 when the Ravens came out on top 30-17. The victory began a 4-game winning streak in the series for Baltimore, their best run yet.
The sides last faced off as recently as November, and things were agonizingly close, with the Ravens only just scraping through with a victory of 16-14.
Steelers vs. Ravens 01/01/23 NFL Betting Tips: The Season So Far
Pittsburgh isn’t exactly having a golden age at the moment. They’re stuck with a negative 6-8 record and have few excuses for the consistently poor performances. They just genuinely look like they lack the talent to compete in the AFC North. The high standard in the division is perhaps the one reason they can fall back on why their record doesn’t look better.
If anything, we could look at their lack of success in a harsher light considering the wild amount of money spent on the defense, which has been unforgivably leaky. There’s been a handful of injuries spotted about, but nowhere near enough to justify the poor rankings in sacks and passing yards.
Even less impressive has been the special team’s spot which is up there with the worst in the league.
Most fans think better utilization of RB Najee Harris would be a good place to start fixing things up, but it’s all a bit late as the postseason looks out of reach by now.
Baltimore’s season is ticking along in a much smoother manner. A 9-5 record is nothing to laugh at, and the attack and defense have both looked red-hot at times. The trouble seems to be getting them playing at their best on the same day. They probably won’t need to work that out in time for the Steelers vs. Ravens 01/01/23 fixture though.
Even with injuries to the side’s top two quarterbacks, it looks like Baltimore will be able to keep ticking along, thanks to their well-rounded squad.
