UEFA EURO 2024 FAQ
What is UEFA EURO 2024?
The UEFA EURO, more formally known as the UEFA European Championship, is the number one continental football competition in Europe. Featuring national teams from UEFA nations like France and Germany, it is also regarded as one of the more prestigious competitions in the world.
How Often is UEFA EURO Held?
UEFA EURO is held every four years and generally takes place in the even numbered years between World Cup competitions.
Of course, every rule has its exceptions, and the EURO is no exception. Although, in this case, the exceptions are few and far between. The last time was in 2020-2021. This time around, due to Covid disruptions, the 2020 EURO was postponed to 2021.
But, aside from that, the EURO has run like clockwork since its second edition, which took place in 1960.
When Was UEFA EURO Founded?
The first UEFA EURO competition was held back in 1958, although it wasn’t really known as the EURO until 1996.
Initially, what we now know as the EURO was called the European Nations’ Cup. In 1968, it then renamed to the UEFA European Championship. And then, in 1996, it was “branded” as the UEFA EURO while still retaining its official name.
How Many Teams Compete in UEFA EURO 2024
For the UEFA EURO 2024, a total of 24 teams will be competing to become the official champions of European football. However, this 24-team format hasn’t been a permanent feature of the EURO.
In fact, back in 1960, during the EURO’s early days, the European champion title was contested by just 17 teams, including one you won’t see anymore: the Soviet Union.
What Is the Format of UEFA EURO 2024?
The UEFA EURO 2024 will follow the traditional format we now see in most major tournaments. Roughly speaking, the tournament will take part in two stages — the group stage, and the final knockout stages.
More specifically, the UEFA EURO 2024 will kick off with teams competing in six groups: Group A through to F.
Then, from each of these groups, teams will be selected to advance to the round of 16. From each group, the top two teams will automatically qualify, making up the first 12 slots. The remaining four slots will then be filled by the best-performing third-place finishers.
From here on out, the competition will follow the classic knockout format, with teams advancing through the group of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and then, finally, the champion-deciding final.
Where Is the UEFA EURO 2024 Held?
Every year, the EURO is hosted by a different host nation, selected from competing member nations. This year, for the UEFA EURO 2024, that nation will be Germany.
In terms of specific venues, the competition will take place all across Germany, with a total of 10 stadiums hosting games over the month-long event. Those stadiums are:
Stadium Name | Location | Capacity |
Olympiastadion Berlin | Berlin | 71,000 |
Cologne Stadium | Cologne | 43,000 |
BVB Stadion Dortmund | Dortmund | 62,000 |
Düsseldorf Arena | Dusseldorf | 47,000 |
Frankfurt Arena | Frankfurt | 47,000 |
Arena AufSchalke | Gelsenkirchen | 50,000 |
Volksparkstadion Hamburg | Hamburg | 49,000 |
Leipzig Stadium | Leipzig | 40,000 |
Munich Football Arena | Munich | 66,000 |
Stuttgart Arena | Stuttgart | 51,000 |
In terms of scheduling, the opening game will kick off at the Munich Football Arena on June 14, with the final to be held on July 14 at Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Who Are the Best UEFA EURO 2024 Teams?
With the exception of a handful of the top non-European teams, the UEFA EURO 2024 is more or less a who’s who of international football. In fact, if you ignore the years that Argentina and Brazil have won the World Cup, the EURO features every World Cup-winning team for as long as most of us have been alive.
Of course, that means we’ll be seeing Spain, France, Germany, and Italy featuring prominently in our EURO 2024 predictions. But there’s also be plenty of other hot talent hitting the field, with teams like Portugal and Belgium also taking part.
That means we’ve got plenty of tense, and at times unpredictable action coming up. So make sure you take full advantage of our UEFA EURO 2024 score predictions before placing your bets on any games.
Betting Tips For the UEFA EURO 2024 Predictions & Odds
As just mentioned, the UEFA EURO 2024 will be packed with some of the hottest football teams in the world. And many of them are in with a chance to win.
Of course, if we just went by the current world rankings, France would be the most likely winner. Second only to Argentina, who naturally won’t be competing the EURO, don’t be surprised to see them winning matches, and, with a little luck, the entire tournament.
But France won’t be alone, and many teams will be snapping at their heels, including Belgium, who’s currently third in the world rankings. And let’s not forget other football giants like Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Croatia who all round out the selection of the top 10 teams who’ll be present in our 2024 EURO odds and predictions.
So to help you make the most of it all, here are a few UEFA EURO 2024 betting tips to help you get even more out of our free soccer predictions.
UEFA EURO 2024 Betting Tip #1: Get the Stats
As a competition that’s only held every four years, a lot can happen between editions. That means, you need something more than simply basing your bets on what happened last time ‘round.
Obviously, the best way to do that is to get up to date on all the latest stats for each respective team from more recent competitions. And a great place to start is with a simple high level overview, such as the world rankings we looked at earlier.
Of course, the stats go much deeper than this. How deep precisely depends on how much of a rabbit hole you want to go down. But to help you sort through all this, each of our EURO 2024 predictions will feature a small handful of useful stats that our analysts found to be most useful when creating each prediction. So do yourself a favor and start there.
UEFA EURO 2024 Betting Tip #2: Learn About Different Bet Types
When it comes time to place your bets using our 2024 EURO predictions, don’t think the only way to bet is with a traditional “winner takes all” moneyline bet. There’s at least half a dozen other bet types you can explore, with each offering different benefits and downsides in terms of risk and payouts.
To help get you started exploring alternative bet types, be sure to keep reading on. Coming up next, our handy UEFA EURO 2024 betting guide will get you up to speed with the basic bet types and the strategies you can use.
UEFA EURO 2024 Betting Tip #3: Size Your Bets Properly With Our Free UEFA EURO 2024 Predictions
Many bettors follow a fairly simple strategy when it comes to sizing their UEFA EURO bets. That is, they just pick a default number that feels comfortable and run with it.
But we like to think you can do better. So here’s out advice — size your bet according to the odds on offer and the certainty given by our analysts in their predictions. Naturally, if your favorite sportsbook is tight odds on an uncertain winner, you’re maybe better off sizing down your standard bet a little.
Likewise, if you find huge odds on a team that our predictions rank as a shoo-in for the win, you’d do well to double, or even triple, your standard bet amount.
In either case, the name of the game is winning. And if you want to win big, then you’d better size your bets appropriately.
UEFA EURO 2024 Betting Guide
Taking a look at our free UEFA EURO 2024 predictions & odds is only half the equation in winning big. The other half is knowing what types of bets to use based on what’s in the score prediction.
Obviously, learning everything there is to know about betting strategy is a massive topic that would take an entire book to cover. But, you can still go a long way armed with just a little bit of information. And the best place to start is learning about the different EURA EURO 2024 bet types.
So to kick things off, let’s take a quick look at the most popular bet types you can leverage when placing your UEFA EURO 2024 bets.
- UEFA EURO 2024 Moneyline Bets: These are the default bet types most punters will gravitate towards. In a moneyline bet, you pick a winning team. If that team then wins, you win. Simple, quick, and easy.
- UEFA EURO 2024 Point Spread Bets: A UEFA EURO 2024 point spread bet is a lot like a golf handicap combined with a moneyline bet. Basically, instead of backing an outright winner, you get to bet on a “handicapped” winner. Essentially, the underdog is given a handicap — the “point spread”, and the favorite must win by at least that many goals to be declared the winner for the purposes of the bet.
- UEFA EURO 2024 Over/Under Bets: Betting with our UEFA EURO 2024 score predictions doesn’t always mean picking winners and losers. Another popular type of bet is what’s known as an over/under bet. Here, you bet on how many goals will be scored in a game, regardless of who scores them.
- UEFA EURO 2024 Double Chance Bets: If committing to a single outcome for any given EURO 2024 game is too hard, sometimes a double chance bet is what you need. Here, you get to pick two of the three possible outcomes for a game.
- UEFA EURO 2024 Prop Bets: UEFA EURO 2024 prop bets are fast becoming one of the most popular bet types. Here, you bet on different events that might happen throughout a game, such as the first goal scorer.
Knowing the different bet types is, of course, just a start. The next step is learning when to use each bet type and why. So let’s take a closer look at the betting strategies you can use when combining our best EURO 2024 winner predictions with different bet types.
UEFA EURO 2024 Betting Guide: Predictions & Bet Type Strategy
So you’ve got our free UEFA predictions in one hand, and a list of available bets and odds in the other. What do you do next?
Here, we’re going to take a close look at each bet type and when you might pair each with one of our winning 2024 EURO predictions.
UEFA EURO 2024 Moneyline Bets
For most of our UEFA EURO 2024 predictions, a straight up moneyline bet is going to be the easiest and safest option. In this case, all you need to do is back the team you think is going to win. And if that team goes on to win come game day, you win.
However, for all its simplicity, the moneyline bet does have its complications. Specifically, the odds systems in place for moneyline bets can leave new bettors a little confused.
How exactly these odds are expressed will depend on which sportsbook you’re betting with and/or where you are in the world. But, for the sake of brevity, we’re going to take a look at one of the more popular systems — the American odds system.
Getting Your Head Around UEFA EURO 2024 Moneyline Odds
Obviously, not all odds systems are the same, and comparing them can at times be difficult unless you’re fond of maths. However, while there are many differences, most are conceptually the same.
At a high level, there’s a favorite, and there’s an underdog. For each dollar you bet on a EUFA EURO 2024 match, the favorite will pay out less if you win. On the other hand, if you back the underdog and they win, that bet will pay out more.
How the payout is determined depends on the odds system in use. In the case of the American odds system, here’s an example of how that looks.
Example EUFA EURO 2024 Moneyline Bet
Let’s say you want to bet on a France vs Italy game, and your bookmaker is giving odds of -125 for France, and +175 for Italy. In this case, France is the favorite according to the odds, and Italy is the underdog.
As for how your payout will be calculated, here’s how it works:
- If you bet on France and they win, you will win $100 for every $125 that you bet. Of course, for other bet amounts, you simply use the fraction given by this amount, which works out to $0.80 for every $1 you bet. To illustrate how this works, imagine you bet $80 on France and they win. Your winnings will total 80 x $0.80, giving you a total win of $64..
- If you got lucky and backed Italy at +175 to win, your payout will be much bigger. In this case, the fraction is reversed. In other words, you’ll win $175 for every $100 you bet on Italy. Again, the same rule applies as above — take the fraction of $175 over $100, and multiply by the dollars you bet. For example, if you bet $80 on Italy, you’ll win a total of $1.75 for every dollar you bet. In this case, that works out to $140.
When to Place UEFA EURO 2024 Moneyline Bets
Most of the time, our UEFA EURO 2024 predictions will call out a clear winner. When this is the case, a moneyline bet is a surefire way to win a decent chunk of change. However, while it’s hard to go wrong with a moneyline bet, there are a couple of times when you might want to think twice.
One great example of a moment to think twice about a moneyline bet is when our EURO score predictions give equal odds to two outcomes in a game. For example, if there’s a game where we predict it could end in either a draw or one team winning, you might want to look to other EURO betting strategies.
Placing Point Spread Bets With Our Free UEFA EURO 2024 Tips and Picks
Quite often, our UEFA EURO 2024 predictions give a solid base from which you can make some very profitable point-spread bets. And the best part is, these bets can be used to bet on the underdog team and still have a shot at coming out a winner.
To illustrate how this works, remember what we said before. Point spread bets work a lot like golf handicaps. That is, the underdog team is given a goal handicap which sets the goal margin by which the favorite needs to win. If the favorite doesn’t win by this goal difference, the underdog team will “win” for the purposes of the bet, even if they technically lost the match.
How UEFA EURO 2024 Point Spread Bets Work
To show how a point spread bet works, imagine an upcoming Poland vs Belgium match in which Belgium is the clear favorite to win. But, when you check out your favorite sportsbook, you see they’re offering a point spread bet with a 2-goal spread.
What this means in practice is that Poland has a 2-goal handicap, meaning that Belgium must win by at least 2 goals to be declared the winner for the purposes of this bet.
When to Use UEFA EURO 2024 Point Spread Bets
If you read our UEFA EURO 2024 predictions and our analysts call out a clear winner, there’s usually a pretty good chance the sportsbooks are thinking the same thing.
Naturally, if the sportsbooks are thinking the same thing, the odds aren’t going to be great on a straight-up moneyline bet. However, once the handicap — or point spread — comes into play, the potential payout for backing the favorite can go way up.
That means the moment to strike with a point spread bet is when our free EURO 2024 score predictions call for a winning margin that’s equal to or greater than the point spread at your sportsbook. When you see this, strike hard for a big payout.
The other time to take advantage of a moneyline bet is in the reverse situation to the above. If our 2024 UEFA EURO picks and tips call for a small winning margin, but the sportsbook gives the underdog a big handicap, then you should back the underdog for a “handicapped win”.
Over/Under Bets Using Our UEFA EURO 2024 Score Predictions
Sometimes, the best way to bet on a game isn’t by picking the outcome of the game in terms of win/lose/draw. And that’s where an over/under UEFA EURO 2024 bet might be just the thing you need.
How this differs from other bet types we’ve explored so far is that an over/under bet is all about predicting how many goals will be scored in a game. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals either. A goal is a goal for the purposes of this bet.
Naturally, this makes our free EURO predictions a great match for this type of bet, as our analysts usually give a good clear score prediction. All you need to do is tally up the combined score (e.g., if a Portugal vs Spain prediction gives a 2-1 result, that means a total of 3 goals should be scored in the game).
How Over/Under Bets Work
When it comes time to place an over/under bet, it really couldn’t be simpler. When you head to your sportsbook, they’ll give you a goal target. Let’s say 2.5.
Using our example Portugal vs Spain prediction above, the correct bet here would be an “over” bet. That’s because, with 3 goals predicted by our score predictions, there will likely be more than 2.5 goals scored in the game.
On the other hand, if the goal target was 3.5, you would be better off placing an “under” bet. In this case, if the game finishes with just three goals scored in total, you’ll be walking away with a nice little cash injection.
UEFA EURO 2024 Double Chance Bets
While we don’t like to um and ah about things too much around here, sometimes our UEFA analyst have to. Quite simply, sometimes there really are equal odds for multiple outcomes in a game.
When this happens, this is when a double chance bet can make the difference between winning and losing. All you have to do is pick two of the three possible outcomes for a game, and if either one is right, you win.
How UEFA EURO 2024 Double Chance Bets Work
UEFA EURO 2024 double chance bets aren’t all that different from a straight-up moneyline bet. The only real difference is you get to bet two ways, basically doubling your chances of winning.
To show how this works, imagine a Switzerland vs Hungary match where Switzerland is the slight favorite to win. However, our analysts also give pretty good odds of the game ending in a draw. In this case, you can bet on both outcomes — draw, or Switzerland to win — and win if the game ends either way.
When to Place Double Chance Bets With Our Euro Predictions
The time to strike with a double chance bet is anytime our EURO 2024 predictions give equal odds to two possible outcomes for a game. The only downside is that your payout won’t be as big as it would be if you made a slightly riskier moneyline bet.
UEFA EURO 2024 Prop Bets
When it comes to betting on the EURO, prop bets are fast becoming one of the most popular ways to make fast, fun bets that potentially have some very big payouts.
How these work in practice will depend on the exact bet. But at a high level, all you do in a prop bet is look at what markets your sportsbook is offering for different “events”. For example, maybe your sportsbook is offering a market for the first goal scorer in a game. Then, if that team or player scores first and you backed them, you win.
Winning UEFA EURO 2024 Prop Bets
Normally, our UEFA EURO 2024 tips and picks aren’t a great match for prop bets. Generally, we tend to put our energy into delivering you the best score predictions possible rather than trying to make predictions about every little event that will happen.
Of course, there are times when our EURO score predictions are a good match for a prop bet. To give one example, if our analysts give a clear 3-0 prediction on a match and your sportsbook is offering a market on the first team to score, then it’s pretty clear which team you should be backing to score first.
