F1 China Grand Prix Prediction and Odds, Shanghai 2025
2025 looks set to be an exciting year in Formula One motor racing that will surely be full of thrills and spills as drivers and constructors battle it out to see who will come out on top.
And no doubt, much of the focus will be on the top drivers. After all, we have great expectations around Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who’s been one of the dominant forces in the GP for the last four seasons straight. And then there’s that other youngster from Ferrari, Charles LeClerc, who’s eager to step up and stake his claim as one of the best in the industry. And let’s not forget the latest rising star, Lando Norris.
Then we also have Lewis Hamilton, who will be looking to put the disappointment of 2023 nd 2024 behind him and do everything in his power to make history by becoming the first driver in F1 history to win 8 Drivers’ Championships. But will the jump to Ferarri be enough?
But beyond the ups and downs of drive battles, the 2025 season is also exciting because it’s the year when, all being well, F1 returns to China.
2025 F1 China Grand Prix Information, Analysis
F1 China Returns
The F1 China Grand Prix first took place in 2004 and has been held 17 times, with a significant break after the 2019 edition, which saw it put on hold due to China’s strict Zero-Covid policy.
It was supposed to resume in 2023 on the Shanghai International Circuit, which would have been the first time the event had been held here since 2019. However, with China’s strict Covid policies, the race was again cancelled.
That meant 2024, five years later, saw the race finally make its comeback. And with 2025 looking like it’s all systems go, it is now one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the F1 calendar for 2025.
About the Shanghai International Circuit
The Shanghai International Circuit cost $450 million to complete and, at the time, was the world’s most expensive circuit. In 2009 however, Abu Dhabi shattered this record when it constructed the Yas Marina Circuit, which cost a staggering $1.132 Billion.
As for the Shanghai track itself, this is a hugely popular track with sprint race fans as it provides excellent opportunities for drivers to overtake. The race length is 189.599 miles (305.066 km), with a circuit length of 3.387 miles (5.451 km).
Lewis Hamilton has enjoyed great success here over the years, having won the event six times for Mercedes, even if his 9th-place finish last year left a bit to be desired.
F1 China Grand Prix Conditions
With 2025 F1 China Grand going full steam ahead, what can fans and drivers expect in terms of conditions?
As we always say, we can’t predict the weather and see into the future, so we can’t know for sure what the weather will be like on the day of the F1 China Grand Prix. We can, however, take an educated guess.
Unlike many of the other early F1 events taking place early in the season, the weather for this event could be much more unpredictable.
At this time of year, Shanghai is prone to fog, mist, and rain, so there is always a chance of disruption. Despite this, conditions are generally dry and settled, though it will likely be cloudy and overcast.
Temperatures can vary, though, and the maximum temperature during qualifying and the race itself will likely be between 18c and 21c.

Lewis Hamilton Prediction
Lewis Hamilton has enjoyed great success in China in the past, and the circuit most certainly suits his driving style.
In fact, it was just two years ago that Hamilton picked up the win, so his ability here is certainly not ancient history. He has also won this Grand Prix more times than any other driver (6) and will be eager to make it #7 and pick up the points to nudge him closer to a place in the record books.
With that said, his jump to Ferarri still leaves a lot of questions over whether he’ll finally deliver the results he was once capable of, or if he’s set to deliver another year of disappointment.
Max Verstappen Odds
As the reigning World Champion who’s now got a fifth consecutive title in his sights, it’s hard to ignore the odds Verstappen has of taking the chequered flag. His aggressive driving style and have made him a dominant force in Formula 1. Verstappen’s previous successes in China further bolster his status as a favorite for the upcoming Grand Prix.

What’s more, Norris has consistently shown strength on circuits like Shanghai where his ability to negotiate challenging high-speed corners and technical sectors has earned him multiple podium finishes in similar circuits like Silverstone and Suzuka. In short, Norris is positioned perfectly for a possible victory in China.

Over the course of his 2024 rookie season, Oscar Piastri emerged as a genuine contender in Formula 1 after taking two race victories and finishing consistently in the top five. His standout performance at similarly technical circuits, such as his podiums at Singapore and Monaco, show he’s got the precision and ability to shine in this style of racing.
