Buccaneers vs. Falcons 08/01/23 Preview Games and History
These sides have faced off frequently in the modern era, playing each other twice annually for over a decade.
They first squared off in 1977 when the Falcons trounced the Buccaneers 17-0. After that, the sides played each other once every couple of years or so, but overall, the series generally remained balanced. The first period of domination that one side had in the series came in a 6-game winning streak that began for Tampa Bay in 1997 with a 31-10 win.
Atlanta has had a few years of their own glory, including winning streaks in the late 2000s and a 5-game stretch from 2016 to 2018.
Tampa Bay is hoping to set a record during the Buccaneers vs. Falcons 08/01/23 fixture by earning their 6th win in the series in a row, with Atlanta’s last win coming back in 2019 in overtime.
The series currently stands at 30-28 in Tampa Bay’s favor, although they’re relatively further ahead on the total points scored, with 1344 to Atlanta’s 1256.
Buccaneers vs. Falcons Odds and Statistics Matchday 08/01/23
These sides have never met in the postseason. That doesn’t mean that things don’t get heated between the teams though. There have been some great matchups played out between them, though, including the tense nailbiter the last time they met earlier this season, ending 21-15 in Tampa Bay’s favor.
The Buccaneers have had lots of joy in some of the recent matchups too, getting 40+ points twice in 2021. Of course, Atlanta will be hoping more than anything that Tampa Bay doesn’t get to set a new winning record in the series, but conceding 40+ points again will be disastrous for fans.
Buccaneers vs. Falcons NFL Betting Tips for 08/01/23: The Season So Far
Chasing a positive record, the Buccaneers’ 7-8 record comes in spite of being a team that looks like it’s been trying to find itself all season. In recent weeks things have started gluing together, which is good news, but fans will be wondering what could have been if things were sorted out sooner.
The main positive realization has been just how talented a punter they have in Jake Camarda. It’s an especially welcome revelation since the side has had seemingly endless problems with the special team picks over the last few years.
Tom Brady may be on course for his first losing season, which doesn’t sound great, but the side is still in the first place, so things can’t be that bad. The team has looked to be in freefall in recent weeks, though, and based on current form, they don’t look like a side ready for the playoffs, no matter how exceptional their special teams are.
There are weak spots all around when it comes to this Falcons’ side. They’re set for a negative record, and next season will be a transition season at best. Long-term plans for QB need to be made soon, but the whole side is likely to get a makeover in the offseason.
Matt Ryan may last until 2023, but the side really needs to start looking past that if they’re going to be able to dream of a better future. One bright spot has been Kyle Pitts whose been the main reason the offense has had any success this season.
Prediction for Buccaneers vs. Falcons 08/01/23
