Texans vs. Colts 01/08/23 Preview Games and History
While there is undoubtedly a rivalry between these two teams, it’s a rather one-sided one, with the Texans bringing more fire to the fight than their divisional counterparts in Indianapolis.
The fact that the Texans were only founded in 2002 means they have less of a history to fall back on to find deeper rivals but since their inception, they’ve regularly had salt rubbed into the wounds of defeats against the Colts, who comfortably lead the series 32-9-1.
This lead is in no small part helped by the fact that the first 9 games in the series all went in the Colts’ favor. To be fair to the newly established Texans, though, they weren’t the only team who struggled against the Colts in the 2000s, as Indianapolis was one of the most successful teams of the decade and regularly competed for the Super Bowl. While the Colts were enjoying such success, the Texans struggled to find their feet. The side took 7 years from their first year to enjoy a winning season.
These developments all happened while the two sides were stuck shoulder to shoulder alongside one another in the AFC South, meaning they often play despite the playing field not being very fair initially. The Colts swept aside most teams in the 2000s, not just the Texans, hence the lack of reciprocation regarding the rivalry.
Texans vs. Colts Odds and Statistics for 01/08/23
These sides have met in the postseason just once, when the Colts won the 2018 Wild Card round 21-7. They also have the record for the biggest win in the series, which came very early on in the rivalry. It was a 49-14 win in 2014.
The Texans have come a long way since the drubbings of the early days. The 20-year anniversary of their first matchup – which the Colts dominated 23-3 – was this September. Last time out, though, the Texans managed to hold their rivals to a 20-20 draw. So will they be able to find a winner during the Texans vs. Colts 01/08/23?
Texans vs. Colts NFL Betting Tips for the Game Played on 01/08/23 – This Season So Far
The Texans have gone back to 2002 this season, struggling to find wins and slumping to an abysmal 2-12-1 record. By most measures, they’re the worst side in the league and they’ll mainly just be looking forward to having this season over and done with.
Things haven’t been helped by injuries to defensive end Jonathon Greenard, who was probably seen as the side’s key player going into the year. At points, they have threatened to earn surprise wins, coming close in several losses, but if those don’t turn into victories, it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day.
The fact they’ve managed to push some teams with better records to the wire at least gives some optimism that there’s something to build on for next year, though, with DE Jerry Hughes on the older side but potentially providing a good foundation for next year’s building project.
It’s hardly been a vintage year for the Colts, either. Things reached their absolute bottom against the Vikings, who they led 33-0 at halftime only to see victory slip through their fingers. A great watch for Minnesota fans but an excruciating day for Minneapolis.
At least they can say they were part of breaking a record this season (biggest-ever NFL halftime comeback).
Prediction for Texans vs. Colts for 01/08/23
This Texans vs. Colts 01/01/23 is hardly the cream of the crop, but Indianapolis has just a little more quality going for them.
Expect the Indianapolis Colts to win the Texans vs. Colts 01/08/23 matchup.
