They go into their match with the Jets with form having dipped as low as it’s been all season in terms of results. In terms of performances on the pitch, things haven’t always been as glum, though. Even when losing, the Jaguars tend to run their opposition closely. Of course, being able to turn close games into victories is a crucial next step before fans can say their team is at the level they’d like to see, but it’s certainly a lot better than being fully trounced every week.

Travis Etienne at running back has started catching people’s eyes, and if he can make those few points of difference at the ends of games, then the Jaguars will suddenly be going home with many more victories under their belt.

If this side can find their defensive solidity again and give Etienne what he needs to keep his hot streak going, then the Jaguars could quickly start to look like a whole different outfit. It’s been too long for most Jets fans, but it looks like they could be on the edge of another playoff spot here. If Mike White at quarterback can continue to live up to the hefty responsibilities that have been thrust on his shoulders this year then the post-season could be waiting for New York.

They’ll still need a good dose of luck and their defense to continue its excellent form, but if they can find the right balance between Mike White’s talent and distributing responsibilities evenly enough then their fans still have something to hope for.
