Canada is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Famous for its snow-capped mountains, lush green wilderness, and incredibly friendly locals, it’s also the home of the F1 Canada Grand Prix.
Since it was first held in 1961, the F1 Canada Grand Prix has provided some incredible moments. Despite being less high profile than some of the other Grand Prix events in the F1 calendar, the Canadian Grand Prix is still very much a fan-favorite event.
Taking place over the weekend of June 7 – 9, with the race itself being held on Sunday, June 9, the 2024 F1 Canada Grand Prix looks to be one of the most exciting in recent years.
F1 Canada GP Information, Analysis
This Grand Prix has been held 57 times thus far. The race itself takes place on the Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit on Notre Dame Island, Montreal.
The circuit is 2.709 miles (4.361 km), with the race consisting of a whopping 70 laps, totaling 189.694 miles (305.270 km) in length.
From the driver’s perspective, the Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit used for the F1 Canada GP is a demanding track. Notably, the barriers are close to the track, a feature which has notoriously contributed to the so-called “Wall of Champions”.
Located at the exit of the final chicane leading into the finishing straight, the Wall of Champions got its name after taking out Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill, and Jacques Villeneuve in the 1999 Canada Grand Prix. Since then, it has continued to wreak havoc among World Champion F1 drivers, including 2024 F1 contender Carlos Sainz.
As for the records, both Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher hold the record for most wins here, with each driver holding 7 a-piece. Ferrari is the Constructor with the most victories, currently holding 14 in total. And the fastest lap time on the current layout is Valtteri Bottas, who posted a 1:13.078 time while racing with Mercedes in 2019.
While 2023 saw Max Verstappen pick up yet another victory at the F1 Canada, adding to his 2022 win, other drivers in the pack will be looking to grab those points in Montreal. So, what can we expect for 2024?
F1 Canadian Grand Prix Prediction Course Details
The weather in Canada is best known for being cold and snowy. However, as the Canadian Grand Prix takes place in late spring/early summer, racing fans will be pleased to know that snow and ice will not be an issue.
However, if 2022 and 2023 are anything to go by, rain might be an issue — both years saw qualifying rounds take place on a rain-soaked track.
Based on past experience and the climate in Montreal, there is a much higher chance of rain than with many other Grand Prix races. Typically though, you can expect dry but cloudy conditions, with temperatures ranging from 20c – 24c.
F1 Canada Grand Prix Odds to Win — Who to Watch
Last year, Max Verstappen took first place, with Fernando Alonso Jnr in 2nd, and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton in 3rd. So who should we keep an eye on this time around?
Charles LeClerc Odds
LeClerc was disappointed with his 2022 F1 Canada Grand Prix 5th-place finish, and he only managed to go one better in 2023, finishing 4th. So you can bet he’ll be looking to perform much better in Canada this time around.
Outside of the Red Bull racing team, Charles LeClerc is Verstappen’s biggest threat for 2024, so expect a fierce battle between those drivers in Montreal.
Lewis Hamilton Prediction
Lewis Hamilton may be getting older, and his form may have dipped noticeably since is heyday, but should we count this legend out?
Hamilton has enjoyed enormous success at the F1 Canada Grand Prix, and the Mercedes legend will be looking to go two better than his 3rd place finish. However, despite high hopes for F1 2024, it would seem his current car might not be living up to his ambitions, or his talent.
Sergio Perez Odds
As Max Verstappen’s teammate, we theoretically shouldn’t expect to see Perez duking it out for first place. However, with that said, he’s currently second only to Verstappen in the current batch of F1 drivers, and there’s a pretty good chance we’ll be seeing him on the podium.

Prediction F1 Canada Grand Prix 2024
The great thing about the F1 Canada Grand Prix is the fact that you never know what to expect.
While we can’t see into the future, we can make some educated predictions of how the Canadian Grand Prix will go down in 2024.
- 1st place: As has become usual, Max Verstappen is standing out as the hot pick to win the 2024 F1 Canada, assuming he doesn’t follow the fate of other Champions at this track and end up in the famous wall.
- 2nd place: In second place, we’re picking Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez. Right now, Perez is the next best thing to Verstappen, and with contract pressures potentially still bearing over his head, he’ll be out to impress.
- 3rd place: We have Charles LeClerc slotting into third. LeClerc is looking threatening in 2024, and his 2022 and 2023 results in Canada have been 5th, and 4th, respectively. No doubt, he’ll be looking to maintain that trajectory.
As for Constructors at the F1 Canada Grand Prix, we’re going with Red Bull. Both Verstappen and Perez look incredible, and if they finish as we predicted, Red Bull will steal the victory. It will. however, be incredibly close between them and Ferrari, as both Sainz Jnr and LeClerc, have the potential to pick up the win in Canada.
