Dolphins vs. Patriots 01/01/23 Prediction and Odds
New Year’s Day is serving up one of AFC East’s hottest matches in Dolphins vs. Patriots 01/01/23 as both teams’ seasons stand on the edge at the Gillette Stadium.
Dolphins vs. Patriots 01/01/23 Preview Games and History
This rivalry is more lowkey than some of the others in the NFL but runs deeper than most. Many Patriots fans remain bitter about the early days of the rivalry when they had to watch the Dolphins trample over much of the competition, including New England.
Although the Patriots won the first game between these two sides – played out in November 1966 – that feeling of victory would remain a rarity until the 1970s when things became much more balanced.
Things have evened out since Miami’s early dominance, though. Both sides enjoyed winning streaks in the series in the 1980s and 90s.
New England is making up for lost time in the modern era, switching things the other way particularly viciously in the 2000s when they were arguably America’s best football team while they watched the Dolphins sink to mediocrity.
After 114 games against each other, things are now relatively close overall, with the all-time series standing at 60-54 in the Dolphin’s favor.
Dolphins vs. Patriots Odds and Statistics
These teams have met in the postseason 3 times, with the Patriots winning the 2 most recent matchups, the most recent of which came in 1997. Miami is enjoying a better time in the series recently, though, having won the last 4 games on the trot.
The Dolphins managed the Patriots pretty well when they last played in November, taking home a 20-7 victory. They’ll be confident of extending this run during the Dolphins vs. Patriots 01/01/23 fixture.
Dolphins vs. Patriots 01/01/23 NFL Betting Tips: The Season So Far
Miami has been playing some nice football this season, currently looking confident with an 8-6 record to push on within the final few weeks. As crunch time comes up, though, the offense has started to look like it’s not quite as dominant as things appeared in the early weeks of the season.
When they’re at their best, there’s no defense that can keep up with the Dolphins’ offensive play but that level isn’t being achieved as regularly now. Whether it’s fatigue or the fact that opposition sides have worked them out, fans will be hoping that they can get back on their terrifying stride soon.
In the meantime, the defense has slightly upped its game to help compensate. This is no doubt helped by the fact that Bradley Chubb has been added, meaning the defensive game has gone from poor to just about average.
Things were looking extremely rosy in game week 12, and the buzz has undeniably died down a bit, but not all is lost. The Dolphins still have a strong record to press on with, and a couple of games of underwhelming defense certainly doesn’t indicate they’ll be unable to rediscover their form from earlier in the season.
New England are just about clinging onto a playoff spot, and they can thank their defense for that. It also looks like the offense is finally starting to perform at the level we know they can, though, which will help assure fans that a spot in the postseason won’t slip away.
Their 7-7 record is respectable, and if that glimpse of the offense’s ability is more than just a happy bump, then that playoff spot should be secured soon.

Prediction Dolphins vs. Patriots 01/01/23
This should be close, but Miami’s quality has more evidence to it over the course of the season. Unfortunately, the improvement in New England’s form hasn’t been going on for long enough for us to be convinced they’ll break their losing streak in the Dolphins vs. Patriots 01/01/23 fixture.
