Brighton vs Chelsea | EPL 22-23 | Matchday 14
The Premier League has well and truly kicked off, and with it, a series of matches that have left us with our mouths wide open. And with it, the excitement that all the clubs are giving us; it is wonderful to see how soccer at its highest levels is a work of art.
Of course, while every game at this level is worth watching, there’s nothing more exciting than when clubs in the habit of winning meet opponents that hold them back and leave them stunned. This Brighton vs Chelsea match may just be one of those surprise packets, and the final result may not depend on previous experience.
Not Many Points Separate Brighton vs Chelsea, So Will One Increase the Difference?
Brighton’s Full of Desire to Succeed in Every Game
This season has started at full speed, and the teams are already opening up gaps in the table. And while some have not been doing well and need to start generating more play and adding victories, others are feeling comfortable with what they are achieving so far.
Brighton, for its part, is giving us an interesting season as they deliver vital results. So far, out of the seven matches until their defeat against Leicester, four were victories. That was their most significant match in terms of goal average, since their record, until then, was minimal, which isn’t great for the table. Nonetheless, with a six-goal advantage to date, they still hold an excellent position on the table.
They usually take the field with a 5-3-1 lineup, an evidently defensive strategy, but that has paid off in terms of restraining opponents and scoring on counterattacks. Their star scorers have been Pascal Groß, Alexis Mac Allister, Leandro Trossard, and Moisés Caicedo.
Chelsea Has Lost Itself in the Glory of Previous Seasons and Must React
It’s not the dream start to the season for Chelsea. They are being cornered by rivals and are unable to get out of it. And this comes after five consecutive seasons of topping the Champions League places and winning.
But what they are showing this season is leaving a lot of doubts about what they can achieve. The level of competition that has unfolded so far is putting the Blues in check and leaving them with a need to react quickly.
What’s more, the casualties from this dismal showing haven’t just been on the field, with the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, the Technical Director, following the thrashing by Tottenham.
Since then, Graham Potter has taken the role, and this will hopefully bring better results. Now we just need to see if they can cohere with this new figure and generate the necessary results before it’s too late.
